October 2001Hello to all Bushwackers Alumni and Friends:I hope you, your family and friends are all well and safe. I've talked to many of you over the past month. Some of you I've known for years, others I marched with only one season and still others I've never met before. Many of you were trying to find fellow Bushwackers, checking to see if they were safe, others of you just needed to talk. It was very heart warming and helped me as well. The last note I sent out to you back in August was regarding the Bushwackers home show being canceled at the last minute. I send my apologies to anyone who didn't get the message of the cancellation in time. Due to unfortunate circumstances with the school district strike, we had to cancel the show, which meant for some that you didn't get to see the 2001 Bushwackers performance. This year the Drum Corps Associates 2001 Championships were very good, competitive throughout the whole weekend. We did have many alumni stop by rehearsals, parties and at the shows. It was great seeing you all and I think it hyped up the Corps having such a large fan base away from home, on behalf of the Corps…thank you. The Bushwackers pushed ahead from 10th place in 2000, to a very impressive 5th place finish this year. They were the smallest corps to compete in finals, yet had the attitude of a corps of 128 people. You'd see the fire in their eyes, the determination, and know that their journey did not end in September. I was very proud of their performances, on and off the field and I know that they are ready to come back in 2002 to get that Title back! We would love to have you come back and join us in this pursuit. I know, some of you are thinking 'It's only October, I'm not even thinking about drum corps yet'. Well the Bushwackers are thinking about Labor Day 2002 already, and have been for months now. We have very many returning members and we've received an unusually high volume of inquiries for membership this coming season. People that saw us last year know how determined we were, how hard we worked and what we will be capable of achieving this coming year. For further information about joining back up with the Bushwackers, please contact either or call 215-292-1522. Our 2002 Open House is scheduled for November 25. The sight has not been confirmed, but once it is, I'll send a note out to all of you about when and where. We'd love to have all of you come out, even if you're just stopping by to say hello. There are many of you that we haven't seen for quite some time and others that we saw just a couple months ago, but we'd like to see you all. If you think you do not have the time to commit to every weekend in the summer, or for some silly reason think you're too old to march, consider joining the Bushwackers support staff. As the Corps grows, we need more support to help the members achieve their goals. So stop by the Open House on Sunday, November 25, 2001, we'd love to see you! My, and the rest of the Bushwackers, thoughts are with you, and we hope you are all okay and remain safe. Best regards, Previous Alumni Updates |
