January 2002Happy New Year to all Bushwackers Alumni and Friends!I hope your holidays were pleasant and the coming year is filled with happiness and joy. Please note that I have a new email address: alumni@bushwackers.org On December 22nd and 23rd the Bushwackers had a camp which was very successful. Despite the camp being very close to the Christmas holiday there was a great turnout. The horn and percussion line worked their way through the opener music and by the end of camp put it together with some awesome results. On the Saturday night of camp there was a fund raising holiday party at O'Donnell's Pub in Harrison, NJ. There was delicious food served, Christmas carols played by Corps members, tons of fun and a live band called Illustrated Man in which one of our own Bushwackers, Alex Nielsen, is a member. Some alumni made it out to join the party and everyone had a great time. We plan on having more Corps parties like this throughout the year to help raise money. It's fun to get everyone together to talk, laugh, dance and have a good time. Plans for a St. Patrick's Day party is in the works as well as a Bowl-a-thon later in the winter. I'll keep you posted on these fun events as I get the particulars. In November at the Open House, some of the alumni got together with some of the current members and put together a lunch for the Corps. The members loved it! It went over so well, that some of the alumni would like to start doing this for every camp for the Corps. Please contact me to see how you can help, either by bringing something to the camps and help serve, or by a money or food donation to go towards the Corps. Please contact me as soon as possible to let me know how you can help. With the Corps expanding in numbers it will take more than 3 of us to provide this for the members, so we need your help. I'd like to start this for the next camp,which is Saturday, January 19th, 10 AM - 6 PM and Sunday, January 20th, 9 AM - 4 PM Please visit the Bushwackers website often for updates, event information and schedules. We still have spots open in all sections of the Corps, but it is filling up quickly this year, so you can't wait until May to join. Also stop by and look at the Bush Bugle for other alumni news.
