It is hard to believe the Bushwackers are entering our 29th year of field competition. Over those years we have successfully made finals every year, while carrying on our tradition of excellence and pushing the envelope in DCA. Over those years many corps, some championship powerhouses, have become only a memory or a statistic on an old score sheet. We have been fortunate to stay competitive financially and on the field of competition.

The only thing our corps has lacked is an organized alumni association. All successful DCA corps have a solid alumni base of support. The Buccaneers, Caballeros, Hurricanes, etc., all have visible, active alumni organizations. Now is the time for the Bushwackers to organize our alumni in support of our corps. Now is the time to act and here is the way in which we have decided to begin. Our first show is in Wildwood on June 19, 2010 and there are still needs in every section. We have prospective members that are on the cusp of saying “YES”, but they all have the same issue swaying them to say “NO”. In a word, money.

We want to approach this differently. We can tell you that the corps is being run differently until we are blue in the face, but it is our wish to truly show you that reality.

Right now is the chance to help the 2010 Bushwackers make gains. Individual members are in need of financial assistance in paying their dues. They need our help. There are members in every section that need assistance and all responses to this appeal will go directly to their financial obligations. We will find individual members for you to sponsor or you can request that your money go to any member of a specific section. You can also sponsor an entire sub-section, e.g. the bass line. We can credit you directly or call it anonymous. YOU TELL US WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR MONEY AND WE WILL DO EXACTLY THAT!

You will not send the money to Bush. Diane Leahey Sadowski has agreed to collect all donations directly from alumni and forward them to the corps for specific members’ dues. This will be done differently because you have asked specifically that it be done differently. We are listening to you so you can trust that what you send will go specifically where you say.

We cannot make this any more transparent or clear cut. Help the individuals that are here now to bring the Bushwacker name to a new level of excellence. Don’t wait, act right now. Following is Diane’s address. If you wish to make a credit card donation, please contact me directly and I will tell you how to go about doing that. We need to hear from you as soon as possible with the season about to begin. Let’s make 2010 a successful year for our corps, the Bushwackers!
