Here are the particulars for this weekend - Saturday, July 3rd through Monday, July 5th:
Saturday:
All members of horn line, battery, and color guard are to REPORT NO LATER THAN 9:00 AM in Milltown, NJ for our first parade. CLICK HERE TO GOOGLE MAP DIRECTIONS. The address is Our Lady of Lourdes Church - 233 North Main Street - Milltown, NJ 08850
DO NOT BE LATE! The pit is to report to Pond Middle School for rehearsal. Your staff will be in touch as far as exact times, but 9:00 am is a safe bet since many of you car pool anyway.
The end of the parade is at JFK Blvd & Washington Ave. CLICK HERE TO GOOGLE MAP DIRECTIONS TO POND MIDDLE SCHOOL.
Following the parade, the corps will be given ample time to eat, rehydrate, and report back to Pond Middle School. We will be having a full afternoon and evening block. Goals include finishing the show and cleaning (brass fixing the drum solo). We anticipate rehearsal will start around 1pm, however this may change depending on the Milltown Parade. Please spread the word. This is a VERY important rehearsal for all to attend, as are all rehearsals.
Sunday:
The brass, battery, and color guard are to report to Staten Island for the parade no later than 11:00 am. The pit is to report to the Ridgefield Park lot. Directions are available at www.bushwackers.org. Directions to the parade will be passed out on Saturday at rehearsal. If, for some reason you will not be there on Saturday, you must contact your caption head for directions and information.
Following the parade, the corps will return to the lot in Ridgefield Park for a brief rehearsal. We anticipate having a sectional block and an ensemble block. Exact times will be announced as they rely on the parade. Goals include cleaning and repetition.
Monday:
The full corps is to report to Ridgefield Park no later than 7:00 am for the final parades of the weekend. There will be bus transportation. Pit members are asked to attend and help with passing out water and whatnot. It's an early start, but there will be no rehearsal following the parades.
It's the reality of our activity that parades and fundraising are necessary to keep drum and bugle corps alive. From the smallest DCA corps to the top notch DCI corps, 4th of July = parades. These parades are considered minimum requirements of all members. It's what we do so we can afford to put on competitive shows and continue to survive. Do not blow these off. Besides, there's usually plenty of time for bonding and things of that nature.
