Celebrating 25 years of excellence and innovation, the Bushwackers will present an anniversary show in a way that only they could. In atypical drum corps fashion, the 2006 Bushwackers will present three pieces of music that are brand new to the corps. Entitled the Stages of Bush, the Bushwackers will take the Drum Corps community on a journey through years past, utilizing the different styles of music that have defined the corps throughout its storied 25 year history.
To represent the Jazz Stage, Bush will start their 2006 show with the exciting and entertaining "Fanfare for the New" by Hugo Montenegro. Fanfare will put center stage the brass and percussion sections, showcasing their extraordinary technical prowess.
As a ballad, the corps has chosen "The Perfect Year" from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Sunset Boulevard. The official corps song since 1998, this will be the first time that the Bushwackers bring A Perfect Year to the competition field. A stirring and expressive piece, The Perfect Year will embody the Broadway stage and will highlight the emotional range of the Bushwacker color guard.
To conclude the show the Bushwackers have chosen Ron Nelson’s rousing and dynamic "Rocky Point Holiday". This challenging piece of music will exemplify the Symphonic stage, and will put on display Bush’s visual creativity and inventiveness.
As the Bushwackers take the stage in 2006, this coming year will no doubt be another memorable season in the corps’ already illustrious history.
