At the conclusion of Sunday's rehearsal, the sounds of Rocky Point Holiday with brass and percussion topped off the best January series of rehearsals EVER for the Bushwackers.

Hopes are high for the 25th anniversary edition of the Harrison Bushwackers as they now enter February. The brass line continues to add new members each rehearsal and only the ballad of Perfect Year remains to be learned, putting the brass line way ahead of any prior season. Equipment acquisitions for the growing corps have finally been competed with the addition of two tubas making a total of ten matching horns for our ten person tuba line. With a generous donation from an anonymous alumnus, the low brass section welcomed five new euphoniums to that section this weekend enabling the corps to stop worrying about borrowing horns every camp weekend. The corps now owns enough new matching horns to field the 50+ brass expected for the 2006 season.

The percussion line has become almost too big to handle as more new
faces walk through the door each camp. The battery and pit took a big
leap forward this camp and the staff has its hands full sorting out all
the details that accompany the problem of having too many
players. Returning this season is the "Bush plates", the sorely missed
cymbal line.

In other news, the corps administration will soon
begin the search for a new set of drums to outfit the 2006 drumline. The
plan is for a silver finished set to celebrate the 25th anniversary.
More keyboards will need to be purchased soon also.
A new, larger trailer is also on the wish list as the corps has rapidly
out grown its 2 year old trailer. The "front office" will have its hands
full in the coming months making all of these things materialize.

Plans are now being put in place to host a home show and anniversary
celebration in Palisades Park New Jersey this coming June at the brand
new PAL Park. The permit application has been filed and it’s now a
waiting game. More news on this tentative event will be made public
later this winter.
The 25th edition of The Harrison Bushwackers has so far exceeded all
expectations and the corps hopes to continue on the same path as the
winter progresses to spring.
