Post DCA Update

A few hours after the DCA Championships in Rochester had ended, Bushwackers Corps Director Jay Morlot declared the 2007 season over in his traditional way. He did the job of shutting the door of the corps trailer for the final time of the season, and he closed the lock himself.

But, they say that when one door closes, another one opens.

Bushwacker quality was in full force in Rochester. The rehearsals were exciting, and the corps brought that excitement to the competition field. And, rather than polishing a show on Championship Weekend, Bushwackers generally prefer to continue surging, and that is exactly what the corps did. The Color Guard earned the title of Best Color Guard in DCA for the second year in a row. Scott Marshman has earned a place in DCA history as one of the elite Color Guard caption heads and writers of his time, his team of co-writers and co-instructors are unparalleled, and the performers were truly amazing once again. In every rehearsal throughout the season, the color guard performed as though they were trying to "project" to the people in the upper decks of a large stadium, and they proved an old adage to be true: the trophies that you receive on competition fields are actually won on practice fields.

The Bushwackers could not have performed at all without an amazing group of supporters. The corps on the field is the "tip of an iceberg", and we are thankful to everybody who clapped for us, sewed for us, pushed or pulled things for us, donated to us, and supported us in so many other ways.
