Chris Kilian - Brass Caption Head
This season will mark Chris Kilian's first as the Brass Caption Head of the six time DCA World Champion Bushwackers Drum & Bugle Corps. A self described "drum corps freak" and eternal student of the marching arts, Chris Kilian joined the Bushwackers in 1996 and spent the next 12 consecutive years with the corps. From 2004-2007, Chris served on the brass and visual instructional teams, most recently serving as the Assistant Brass Caption Head under Joe Exley during the 2006 season (DCA World Champion Brass Section). Chris was the longest tenured drum major in the history of the corps, serving 9 seasons in that role. He was the recipient of the prestigious "Scott Yuppa Bushwacker of the Year" award in 1999. In 2008, Chris was the Program Coordinator and Brass Arranger for the Fusion Core Drum and Bugle Corps, helping to lead the corps to 2nd place in Class A, winning the high brass, high visual, and high color guard awards at the DCA World Championships in Rochester, NY. He is excited to be back with the Bushwackers in 2009, and is looking forward to carrying on the tradition of world-class, quality Bushwacker horn lines. Mr. Kilian studied music composition in college, and is active as a freelance arranger, show designer, instructor and clinician around the country (www.cekiliandesigns.com). Chris is currently the program coordinator and designer for the Penns Grove High School Marching Band (Carney's Point, NJ) and the Archbishop Ryan Marching Band (Philadelphia, PA). He is a member of the national professional music fraternity Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and is an Eagle Scout.
